Together with Toronto & Region Conservation, we are happy to announce the top energy performing school boards in Ontario, based on reported data for the September 2014 – August 2015 school year. The three most energy efficient school boards in Ontario for 2017 are:
#3 – Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board
#2 – York Region District School Board, and
#1 – Durham District School Board!
This year, the report recognizes twenty most energy efficient school boards in Ontario, ranked by their energy savings potential (combined for electricity and gas). Our analysis looked at energy use and building information for Ontario’s 5,000 schools and board administration buildings, as publicly reported by the 72 school boards. Like in previous years of our reporting, energy targets were set for every building based on top quartile (good practice) standards, normalized for building type and area, weather differences and a number of site-specific variables. Sustainable Schools was established in 2007, and is one of several programs that Enerlife has developed with Toronto & Region Conservation.
