- Ian A. Jarvis, BSc., President
Ian Jarvis provides strategic direction and overall leadership of the company.
Ian is a recognized business leader, and an authority in the fields of energy conservation, green buildings, and sustainable communities. From 1992-1999 he was CEO of a leading energy performance contractor (ESCO), responsible for many of the largest energy retrofit projects in North America. Ian served as chair of the Canada Green Building Council from 2003-2007, and as a director of Milton Hydro, one of the most progressive local electric distribution utilities in Ontario, from 2000-2007.
Ian represented the energy efficiency industry on the 1998 Team Canada trade mission to South America, and was the Canadian Government’s invited private sector representative at the 1999 Hemispheric Energy Ministers’ Conference in New Orleans. In 2001 he was a member of Premier Hamm’s expert panel advising the Nova Scotia Government on energy policy alternatives.
Ian is co-chair of the Race to Reduce, a large- scale, collaborative program among landlords and tenants aiming to substantially improve the energy and environmental performance of office buildings.
- Noel Cheeseman, BSc., Principal
Noel Cheeseman manages development and delivery of major programs, and advises on the company’s strategy and business development initiatives. He also directs Enerlife’s web-based building performance system development and manages a wide range of green programs and clients for public and private sectors. His current focus is on municipalities, social housing, and residential and commercial organizations. He has consulted for a range of private property owners as well as all three levels of government.
Noel is a proven business professional, with broad management, marketing, product development and operational experience. He has held executive positions with both large companies and fast-growing start-ups. Most recently he was chief operating officer for an e-commerce start-up, responsible for finding funding, creating business strategy and plans, implementing the technology development platform, and launching the company’s services. Noel has broad experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable design, and green residential market development.
Noel serves on the LEED Canada for Homes TASC committee and previously served on the LEED development committee of the Canada Green Building Council, is an expert reviewer for Sustainable Development Technology Canada investments and is a director of a BC-based renewable energy company.
- Gillian Henderson, Hon BA., MBA, LEED AP O + M, Principal
Gillian Henderson leads the company’s work in management consulting and communications.
Through her academic and professional careers, Gillian has specialized in organizational dynamics, adult learning, change management, and the implementation of business processes. Gillian has extensive experience in design and delivery of needs assessments, business plans, business systems and educational programs aimed at realizing and sustaining individual and organizational change.
- Ron Leal, BESc., Project Manager
Ron has extensive experience in building performance analysis and benchmarking for a variety of building types from commercial office towers to elementary schools. From September 2007 to February 2009, Ron was the project manager for the CaGBC’s LEED for Government Administrative Buildings pilot project, managing the collection, analysis and benchmarking of utility consumption data for over 75 administrative buildings from all levels of government.
Ron also manages the Mayors’ Megawatt Challenge program, an ongoing Toronto and Region Conservation program, which challenges municipalities across Southern Ontario to improve the performance of their own facilities.
Ron participated in the development of the Building Performance Audit tool and managed the implementation process with external auditors. Ron continues to be instrumental in developing and managing the Integrated Building Performance Process which brings together the key management, design, engineering, testing, controls and operations personnel into a team that works together, focused on achieving performance optimization.
- Katia Osokine, Hon BSc., MA, LEED AP O + M, Project Manager
Katia Osokine manages development and delivery of energy management programs, and is the project manager of Enerlife’s consulting services to numerous school boards across the country. She is responsible for all aspects of project planning, budgeting, implementation, reporting and client relations. Katia has substantial experience in performance analysis, design of communications documents, research, and workshop design.
Katia has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2009, and enjoys staying on top of sustainable design developments across the world, with a particular interest in urban redevelopment.
- Kathryn Wilson, Hon BSc., MA, Project Manager
Kathryn is an experienced project manager with a thorough understanding of building performance analysis, benchmarking and communications.
From September 2006 to June 2009, Kathryn was the project manager for Greening Health Care, an ongoing Toronto and Region Conservation program, helping hospitals work together to lower their energy costs and raise their environmental performance. She currently manages the CaGBC’s Arenas pilot project, managing the collection, analysis and benchmarking of utility consumption data for arena facilities across the country.
Kathryn was influential in the development of a targeting tool to help estimate energy conservation and savings potential for individual buildings and entire building portfolios for a wide range of building types. She also manages the completion and tracking of incentive applications for all client retrofit projects. Kathryn’s strong communication and marketing skills assist with overall corporate strategy and the ongoing development of Enerlife’s corporate website.
- Michael Pagel, Hon BA., Project Manager
Michael Pagel currently manages the Greening Health Care program, developing tools and designing workshops to maximize energy and cost savings. He works with members to distinctly determine their facilities’ inefficient energy consumption areas through benchmarking.
With a Masters’ degree in Business Administration currently in progress and experience in data collection and benchmarking, Michael utilizes his superior analytical skills and strong attention to detail to support and provide assistance with the acquisition, verification, processing and analysis of building and utility data. This data supports the company’s information systems and program development, which is essential to ensuring accurate online system savings and benchmark results. Michael has also assisted in determining relevant Building Performance Audit data metrics and normalization protocols to illustrate fair and accurate building benchmarks.
- Pavel Rusyaev, BA., Project Administrator
Pavel Rusyaev, as a member of Enerlife’s data management team, applies his exceptional data analysis skills to ensure consistency and reliability of data within all Enerlife’s projects.
Pavel has acquired very strong project management skills on a number of projects before joining Enerlife Consulting, having coordinated the implementation of multi-million projects in telecommunications, railway transport and public education. As assistant to the project manager at an overseas liaison office of a Japan’s top-ranked trading company, Pavel supported a bid management and contract implementation team and provided liaison between public-sector customers, suppliers and the company’s head office. Pavel also worked for a number of engineering and project management consultancies and gained extensive experience in the procurement of infrastructure development projects funded by international funding institutions. Pavel holds a B.A. degree in teaching Japanese language and literature.
- Shu Guo, BSc., Data Analyst
Shu Guo, as a member of Enerlife’s data management team, applies his exceptional data analysis skills to ensure consistency and reliability of data within all Enerlife’s projects.
Shu has acquired very strong data skills through his education and experience before joining Enerlife Consulting. His excellent analytical and problem solving abilities and exceptional attention to detail ensure that the collection, entry, analysis and interpretation of data is consistently accurate. Shu holds a B.Sc. degree in Actuarial Science with a Business Minor.
- Emily Jarvis-Pollock, Business Manager
Emily Jarvis-Pollock manages Enerlife’s office administration, financials and human resources. Her educational background is in business administration and marketing, and her marketing background assists with the development and formatting of communications materials and reports. Emily also has experience in sales and website development and is part of the team that maintains and updates the corporate website.
- Melissa Rodgers, RGD, Graphic Designer
Melissa Rodgers is responsible for the visual branding and identity of all aspects of the business, including logos, web sites, communications materials and reports.
Melissa’s educational background is in art and graphic design. She has broad and extensive experience with design of corporate logos and web sites, brochures, technical illustrations, displays, presentations and clothing. Melissa has exceptional skills with a complete range of graphic design and office software, and is particularly adept at presenting technical information in a visually pleasing and accessible manner. She designs and creates the corporate look and feel, and also provides graphic design support for the company’s clients and partners.
- Marion Fraser, Hon BA., Master of Public Administration, Consultant
Marion Fraser is a primary advisor and contributor to energy conservation policy and strategy development in Ontario and across North America.
Marion is a recognized authority on the energy sector, its recent evolution and future challenges. She held a range of marketing and program management positions at Ontario Hydro and Enbridge Gas Distribution, where she earned international profile in design and performance of conservation programming. Marion served as senior policy advisor to Ontario’s Energy Minister from 2003-2008. During this time the major planks of the province’s conservation platform were created, including aggressive targets for conservation and renewable energy, smart metering, and the Energy Conservation Leadership Act, world-leading legislation which sets requirements for planning and reporting across the province’s broader public sector. Marion has also worked extensively in the private sector, helping business corporations develop energy efficiency goals and strategies.
Marion’s knowledge and experience are reflected in Enerlife’s strategic direction and services. Her particular strengths are in strategic planning and marketing. She is an accomplished facilitator, helping organizations create vision statements, strategies, goals and action plans through workshops and design charrettes.
- Ann Vanstone, BA., Consultant
Ann Vanstone leads the company’s program development in the education sector, and advises on strategy, public policy, and government relations.
Ann has had a long and distinguished political career in public education. She was a Trustee of the Toronto District School Board, and Chair of the former Metropolitan Toronto School Board. Ann subsequently co-chaired the provincial Education Improvement Commission, and the Effective Schools Task Force, both of which are credited with significant and measurable improvements to educational quality in Ontario.
Ann plays a vital role in the company’s strategic direction. Her deep understanding of the financial, political and social drivers of the education sector and the broader public sector, guides the company’s approach to these markets. Her experience and success in educational quality improvement, with the emphasis on data-driven policy, specific targets, and a robust accountability framework, have directly influenced the company’s philosophy in energy and environmental program design.
